Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Alice Loraine Sexton, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, independence, and quiet strength. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery (5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN). Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Alice is a retired machinist from Smith & Nephew in Memphis. She had a deep passion for genealogy, a pursuit she approached with remarkable patience and care. She spent countless hours in libraries, carefully piecing together family histories, preserving stories that might otherwise have been lost. Her shelves were filled with books and records—testaments to years of meticulous research and her love of family heritage. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Alice was an avid reader of the newspaper, especially the Sunday edition, where she delighted in browsing the sales ads and keeping up with the world around her. Shopping was another of her favorite pastimes, particularly when it came to finding clothes or special items for her beloved grandchildren. She took great joy in giving, always thinking of others and expressing her love through thoughtful gifts. Alice will be remembered as a woman who was fiercely independent, with a strict and serious nature that reflected her strong values and determination. Beneath that exterior was a deep sense of care for her family and an unexpected sense of humor. Her memory lives on in the stories she preserved, the traditions she honored, and the love she quietly shared. Mrs. Sexton is survived by her beloved son, Kyle Wayne Sexton; her daughter-in-law, Kim Sexton; her two precious grandsons, Alexander “Alex” Sexton and Tyler Sexton, all of Horn Lake, MS; her brother, James (Loretta) Folkerts of Arkansas; many friends, and extended relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents Royal and Vivian Weakley Folkers; sisters Elizabeth McGann, Helen Keon, Ruby Aiello, Jeanette Bailey, and Mary Blanchard; and brothers Joe Folkerts, Elmer Folkerts, and Orville Folkerts.
