Diane Kearney Hood, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672). Interment will follow at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672) is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Hood was truly one of a kind—a no-nonsense woman who spoke her mind with clarity and conviction. With her, you always knew exactly where you stood, and that authenticity was something her family and friends deeply respected and cherished. She had a remarkable eye for detail and a gift for organization, approaching everything she did with care and precision. In the kitchen, she found joy and creativity. She loved cooking and baking, always eager to try new recipes from her beloved collection of cookbooks. Her banana cake was a standout favorite—one that will be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of tasting it. She also had a special fondness for cheese and took great pride in sharing her creations with those she loved. Mrs. Hood earned her associate’s degree from Memphis State and went on to build a meaningful career as a licensed histotechnologist with Schering-Plough, where her attention to detail and dedication served her well. Since 1987, she shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Billy. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and shared experiences. She especially adored her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Mrs. Hood loved to travel and cruise extensively. Her favorite trip was to Israel in the holy land. Diane is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Hood of Nesbit, MS; her son, Jonathan (Sharon) Wright of Franklin; her two stepdaughters, Crystal Stainback of Peachtree City, GA and Patty Bailey of Nesbit; her three grandchildren Joshua Wright of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Wright of Franklin, Sarah Grace Wright of Franklin; her two step grandchildren, Maegan McCannon of Peachtree City and Jillian (Jon) Goodwin of Memphis, TN; her sister, Glenda (Don) Towers of Flintville, TN; her two nieces, Kelly (Josh) Galyean of Franklin and Molly (Denton) Casey of Murfreesboro, TN; many friends and extended family members.
