Mary Jane "Jean" Onze

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mary Jane "Jean" Onze, 75, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m., all at Clearview Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park South Woods immediately after the service. Dr. Cory Knepshield will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Mary will be remembered for her loving and caring nature, her sharp sense of humor, and her feisty spirit. She had a passion for baking and gardening, often sharing her homemade treats and beautiful blooms with friends and family. Mary found great joy in attending church whenever she could, and she cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandson, LJ, and the rest of her family. Known for her playful love of shopping, she delighted in ordering items just to see her name on the packages. Mary is survived by her son, John A. Onze, Jr., and his wife Kari of Southaven; grandson, John A. Onze, III, of Southaven; and her sisters, Elizabeth Griffith and Nannie Childers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Onze, Sr.; parents, H.D. and Hildred Simmons; and her brother Sam Simmons. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Ms. Mary Jane Onze may be made to Clearview Baptist Church (3345 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38672). John, Kari, and LJ would like to specifically give a special thanks to a few different people. Thank you to all of the members of Clearview Baptist church for their continued love and support for Mary. She loved each of you, and your prayers, check ins, and love were definitely felt by her. It was her favorite place to be anytime she could be there! Thank you Culpepper Place of Olive Branch for allowing her to have a loving supportive home for the short time she was with you. Thank you to all of the amazing team at Desoto Healthcare and Vitality Hospice for providing the most amazing care in Mary’s last days with us. Your kindness and compassion shown in every interaction, and we will be forever grateful. The last two ladies were extremely special to Mary and took time out of their lives to help Mary every-time she ever needed help. They drove her to countless doctor’s appointments, shopping trips, and outings that improved her life after John Sr. passed away and she could no longer drive. Mrs. Audrey Mayfield and Mrs. Patsy Simmons will never know the depth of gratitude both John Jr. and Kari hold for them for how they took such amazing care of Mary and made her feel special and loved.
