Louis "Bubba" Gene Eubanks

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Louis Gene Eubanks, affectionately known as “Bubba” to many and “Poppy” to his beloved family, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at 6:03 PM, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Born on March 4, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Bubba lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in Guam. He was a staunch patriot who loved his country deeply. A lifelong learner, he was also a history buff and avid reader, always eager to engage in thoughtful conversation about the past, present, and future. Bubba spent his entire career working for BellSouth, where he was known for his work ethic, reliability, and kindness. After retiring, he continued to make an impact in the lives of others as a substitute teacher for over a decade. He was loved by students, teachers, and administrators alike for his warmth, humor, and ability to connect with people of all ages. He was a longtime member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and mentor to young married couples. Prior to that, he also served faithfully at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church and Boulevard Baptist Church, always offering steady leadership, wisdom, and encouragement to those around him. His gentle spirit and strong, Christ-centered marriage made him a trusted guide to many seeking to build families of their own. Bubba was deeply involved in the lives of his daughters, coaching their teams and cheering them on at countless games. He was their biggest fan on and off the field. That same love continued into the next generation—he spent countless hours attending his grandchildren’s games, competitions, and events. Whether in the bleachers or behind the backstop, he was always there, proud and present. His voice, his encouragement, and his pride in his family will never be forgotten. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, his Mustang, cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels, and spending time with those he loved most—his family. He is survived by his four daughters: Kimberley Milana, Shelly Mallet (Mike), Stacey Hubbard (Pete), and Sondra Hinton (Wade); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his beloved brother, Scott Watts (Michele). He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Eugene Eubanks and Evelyn Lorraine Banks Watts; his cherished wife, Brenda “Bombie” Eubanks; his children, Kelly Gene Eubanks and Farris James Eubanks; his grandson, Joshua James Milana; and his siblings, Gregory Lloyd Watts, Louis Eugene Eubanks Jr, and Lisa Eubanks Lollar. He fought the good fight. He finished the race. And now, he is partaking in the glorious riches of eternity, reunited with his bride and resting in the arms of his Savior. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7th, from 5:00–7:00 PM at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church. A celebration of Bubba’s life will take place at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8th, also at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church.
