Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Maxine Nabors Nix, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Shepherd Hospice in Southaven, MS. All services for Mrs. Nix will be private. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672) is in charge of the arrangements. A longtime and devoted member of Central Church in Memphis, Mrs. Nix was deeply rooted in her faith and community. She was actively involved in church life, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or share her wisdom. Her commitment to her church family was a true reflection of her generous heart. Mrs. Nix was also a woman of many talents. She was an exceptional cook, known especially for the love she poured into every meal she prepared. Her homemade bread was a treasured gift to family and friends, a simple but meaningful expression of her care. She also had a gift for sewing, creating clothes with skill and patience, often for others as an act of kindness. Her artistic style served her well, in her position as a wedding consultant and home decorator. She worked at Macy’s until her retirement. Above all, Mrs. Nix will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her strength, and her deep love for others. Her life was a testament to faith, service, and compassion, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maxine is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews; her church family; many friends; and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Clayton Nix; her son, Phillip Gregg Nix; her sister in law and brother in law, Rosa Nell and John Graves; and her sister in law, Verdell Hughey; and her brother in law and sister in law, Alton and Janie Nix. Mrs. Nix’s family would like to offer a note of appreciation and thanks to all the staff at both Specialty Hospice and Shepherd Hospice for the gentle and compassionate care they both provided Mrs. Nix during her final days.
