Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Sandy Oliver Tolson, Sr., 74, precious father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Southaven, MS. Sandy, a longtime resident of Southaven, MS, was known for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road, East, Southaven, MS). Interment will be held at Hinds Chapel Church Cemetery (4866 Fogg Road North Nesbit, MS 38651). Rev. Hardy will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Born on August 7, 1950, in Sheridan, AR, Sandy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he developed a sense of duty and patriotism that stayed with him throughout his life. His time in the service was just one of the many ways he demonstrated his commitment to others. In 1991, Sandy opened Sandy's Auto Repair in Southaven, MS, where he dedicated himself to providing exceptional service to his community. As a mechanic and business owner, Sandy instilled in his children and grandchildren the same strong work ethic that defined his life. Family was everything to Sandy. He played an active role in raising his granddaughters, and his love for his family was immeasurable. He taught those around him the importance of hard work, dependability, and integrity. He was a man who could always be relied upon — a true rock for his loved ones. Though serious in his approach to life, Sandy also had a quick wit and was known for his ability to bring laughter to those around him. He had a unique way of making people feel at ease, and his humor was often as big as his heart. Sandy is survived by his beloved daughter, Teresa Ann Mitchell of Southaven, MS; his two devoted granddaughters, Lindsey (Darrius) Mitchell Quarles of Horn Lake, MS and Jessica Taylor Mitchell of Southaven; his three brothers, Roy Tolson and John Tolson, both of Sheridan, AR and James Tolson of Michigan; his sister Maryanne Tolson of Sheridan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Mr. Tolson was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Tolson; his son, Sandy Tolson, Jr.; his daughter, Tracy Tolson LeFlore; his brother, Tommy Tolson; and his parents, John and Mary Tolson. He was a special person who touched many lives, and he will never be forgotten.
