Taylor "Tae Tae" James Champion

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Taylor James Champion, 27, of Walls, MS, passed away to his Eternal Home on September 26, 2025 in Germantown, TN. He was born in Memphis, TN, to James “Champ” and Patti Champion. He was a Christian. Taylor was a loving soul whose presence brought warmth and joy wherever he went. Whether sharing laughter with friends around a campfire or walking silently through the woods, Taylor lived each moment with heart and purpose. A master hunter, “Tae Tae” had a deep respect for nature. His skill and passion for hunting both turkey and deer were matched only by his love for the people around him. He was a fierce friend, a devoted outdoorsman, and a living testament to strength and perseverance. On his 16th birthday, he received a life-saving liver transplant — a journey that inspired all who watched him fight with quiet courage and relentless hope. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will be felt forever. Taylor is survived by his loving mother, Patti Taylor Champion of Walls, MS; his grandmother, Clara M. Champion of Paducah, KY; his three aunts, Jan (Jere) Ferguson of Memphis, TN, Pam (Billy) Just of Florence, SC and Kim (Doug) Pitts of Paducah, KY. He also leaves his cousins Amy (Dustin) Rouse of Anderson, SC and Jeremy (Paige) Ferguson of Memphis, TN; second cousins Austyn, Hunter and Savannah; half siblings, Carrie (Jeff) Patterson and Daniel (Karen) Champion ; and several extended family members. Lastly, he leaves to mourn his absence, his beloved black Lab, Avery and a leopard gecko, Lester. He was preceded in death by his dad, James “Champ” Champion, his infant brother, Kenneth Owen Champion; his grandparents, JR Champion; James and Dorothy Taylor, and a cousin, Sarah Ferguson. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Minor Memorial United Methodist Church (6120 Goodman Road, Walls, MS). A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Minor Memorial United Methodist Church. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road, East, Southaven, MS) has charge of arrangements. A Hooks and Spurs benefit will also be held October 18, 2025 at Red Barn Reception Hall (5050 W Commerce Street, Hernando, MS) at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome. Let’s gather to honor a life well-lived, and a spirit that will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, you may send gifts to the general fund of Minor Memorial UMC or to “Team Scooter” of Northwest, MS: Hope Outdoors Chapter. Patti wishes to thank all of the wonderful nurses, doctors, and staff at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital (University and Germantown) and all of the loyal friends, family members and church family.
